Our Program

The program at Troop 2970 is youth led by our senior scouts. We have a rich heritage of over 100 Eagle Scouts - many are still active with the troop and assist our youth leaders in delivering the program.

The Troop 2970 program challenges young people mentally and physically through character development, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership activities that are based in an outdoor setting. As scouts progress through the program, they learn skills, build confidence and practice leadership. We are especially proud when our scouts participate in additional opportunities at district, council and national events.

A Note For Parents

For parents looking for assistance on selecting a troop that meets their child's needs, here is a Parent's Guide that was developed by a Scouter in the DelMarVa Council, but the guide applies to families of Arrow of Light Scouts or youth looking to join a troop for the first time anywhere in America.

At a regular troop meetings you will find the older scouts leading younger scouts and adult leaders helping where needed. Some scouts will be involved with merit badge work with their personally selected merit badge counselors. Many parents who stay to watch the action, help with special projects or just visit with other adults in our troop family. There is a lot going on at a regular meeting!
